Yep, they are not the enthusiast brand they are heralded to be. That is now Hyundai. And like enthusiast era Mazda, engines shouldn’t be expected to last 100k miles.

Enthusiast era Mazda. The days of the rust to the ground in a year Mazda3, the RX-8, and the MS3 with the grenade the engine HPFP. I’m equating modern Hyundai to that.

All Hyundai needs to do to be complete is to make a roadster that is somehow their most reliable offering.

It’ll be 250 HP on 91 Octane. Seems like pretty respectable numbers to me.

Ohhh you’re saying Hyandai is that. S till a weird flex since they give you a 100k engine warranty, but okay.

Makes me wonder about the all-time most torque biased engines...
Looks like they benchmarked the GTI:
The standard 2.0L turbocharged engine brings the heat with 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
Unrelated:
However, tick the option on the Ram 3500 for the high output Cummins engine, and you still get 400 hp under the hood, but now you also have 1,000 lb-ft of torque at your disposal.

L ooks like they are pitching it against the near luxury vehicles - Audi A3, Merc A class, etc... not really sure how big that market is especially w/o the G erman brand cachet .

Have you driven one? I have. It will scoot and that torque is great around town, does run out of steam over 5000RPM but how often are you gonna hit that limit? Plus with lower weight should be faster that the 6 turbo, and like Dtg11 said it’ll make 250Hp on premium and that’s nothing to scoff at.

They’ve confirmed this is the direction they’re going towards multiple times. Mazdaspeed is done.
